Strutting their Stuff at London Fashion Week

I

joined the throng of journalists mulling over the shape and colour of 2008 Spring and Summer Fashions this week. 54 Ready to wear designers are strutting their stuff on the London Fashion Week catwalks at the Natural History Museum, in South Kensington and other London West End venues. Backing this up is a trade exhibition of the Accessories we shall all be buying next year. The importance of this annual event to the British Fashion Industry, its long-established names and those newcomers making exciting ripples in the High Street, is reflected in the labels we shall see.

I shall make a point of seeing the shows by established designers such as Allegra Hicks, (stores in Pont Street, Knightsbridge and Madison Avenue, NY), and Betty Jackson, (Brompton Road store). I look forward also to seeing the new designs by groundbreakers like Cambridge University graduate OsmanYousefzada. Osman has been making waves in the US thanks to the patronage of American Elle and Vogue, as well as in London where he is based. You can buy his clothes at Selfridges and Liberty in London and Sachs Fifth Avenue in USA. He showcases his chic elegant clothes with their touch of ethnic and historical style and sexiness in the official LFW schedule for the first time this season.

The LFW shows and the Accessories exhibition tent at the Natural History Museum are ticketed Trade & Press events but you can see selected catwalk shows live on large screen at Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Restaurant and newly opened Bar and you can of course scrabble for items worn at the shows at the end of London Fashion week.

Whopping discounts are to be had at the LFW marquee sell-off of Spring/Summer 2008 fashions and this is always a popular public ticketed event, so book now.
